Dog gat for later

I have always that that dog gate sounded harsh, kind of like a doggie prison or some kind of detainment facility for dogs that had run afoul of the law. I pictured a number of dogs protesting with little picket signs. I stopped feeling this way when I was given a puppy as a gift from some well meaning friends. I had wanted a pet, and had fully intended to get a puppy, but hadn’t yet found the time to select one or dog proof my house. I don’t think it would have mattered. The dog I got managed to subdue me with licks and happy wags and he had the run of the house. I think I would rather have put my own mother behind a barrier than this dog. I know that I am eventually going to have to break down and get some sort of dog containment system, especially whenever I’m gone for a large part of the day. But right now, we’re doing just fine without it.
